Statement from Frankie Jupiter----- NABJ-Milwaukee President
NABJ-Milwaukee honors and celebrates the life and enduring legacy of Reverend Jesse Jackson.
The civil rights leader’s advocacy expanded opportunity, strengthened representation, and influenced generations of leaders across the country. His work alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other movement leaders advanced voting rights, economic justice, and numerous other causes.
His legacy has undoubtedly changed the lives of many journalists and media professionals in meaningful ways, including my own.
Reverend Jackson’s career in civil rights advocacy, community organizing, and mentorship helped shape national conversations around equity, access, and accountability. His example demonstrates how sustained public service and principled leadership can expand opportunity and strengthen civic engagement across generations.
We recognize his impact with gratitude and respect, and we honor a legacy that continues to shape the work of journalists, media professionals, leaders, and communities committed to access and representation.

NABJ-Milwaukee President
